Fact: 22% of adult Canadians have serious problems dealing with printed materials. An additional 24 per cent of Canadians can only deal with simple reading tasks.
Fact: In the United States, fewer than HALF of the adult population has read a book within the last twelve months.
It seems to me that these numbers get worse every time a new survey is conducted. So, I thought it might be interesting to ask my fellow photobloggers to contibute to a project combining photography with literature. Basically, I asked that the following criteria be used as a guide:
Photos of people reading
Photos that remind you of a book
(for example, if you snap a shot of an old man yelling out a window to a boy on the street - "You there, Boy - what day is this?")
Photos that were inspired by a book
Photos of books
... etc, etc, etc.
I would like to thank everyone for their wonderful submissions. I am putting all of the photos on this site, but it doesn't end here. From time to time, I am going to come up with new challenges and will be requesting additional submissions. So, stay tuned.
